Climate
Long humid subtropical summers, a mild winter (10–20°C) with no central heating, April–June rains, and occasional typhoon fringe effects.
An extensive metro system plus shared bikes covers the city; get a local SIM and mobile wallet immediately, as cash is fading fast. In the Xiaobei–Dengfeng area you will hear Arabic, French and Swahili on the street, alongside Middle Eastern and African groceries and kitchens. English is decent in universities and trading districts, weaker in old Cantonese neighborhoods.
